The Pearson Test of English Academic, PTE Academic is a computer-based academic English language test aimed at non-native English speakers wanting to study abroad. It tests Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions.
During the three-hour test session, there are three main parts to the test: speaking and writing(together), listening and reading. During the test, you will find twenty different question formats,ranging from multiple choice through to essay writing and interpreting information.
The test begins with Part 1: Speaking & Writing that lasts for 77 – 93 minutes. Essay being 20 minutes. Part 2 being reading that lasts for 32 to 40 minutes. Part 3 is listening and the total time varies between 45 to 57 minutes. However, there is also an optional 10-minute break between the reading and listening parts.
The scoring is on a scale of 90 points overall and 90 points for the individual modules.
