Canada is one of the most sorted and student-friendly countries. It offers not only quality education but education that is affordable for international students, including Indians. The country is ethnically diverse and has the lowest crime rate, with a high standard of living. Canada has a long list of beautiful tourist spots starting from the magnificent Niagara Falls to the Canadian Rockies.
The higher education system is not very different from the US. There are two types of institutions.
Public universities and colleges:The federal and provincial government runs these- receive donations and research grants apart from the tuition acquired from students.
Private universities and colleges: These are run by private bodies and do not receive any funding from the government bodies.
The country has three academic intakes- Fall, Winter, Summer. Each semester is 4 months long.
Major intake for an international student is Fall. However, the winter and summer intake has quite a few courses to offer. Students can choose their programme from a Diploma (2 years ) to a master’s course(2 years). The students are advised to start applying at least 9 months in advance before the course start date since admissions are very competitive.
Popular courses range from Engineering to MBA (with specializations).
