The Ministry of Education regulates education in Singapore which helps in providing quality education. The country has a tropical climate throughout the year and is free from major natural disasters.
August is The Main intake for the Government Universities, and a few courses are available in January. Private universities have multiple in-takes being January, February, March, July, October and November
Public universities: Public universities in Singapore employ a holistic approach to their recruitment.The admissions committee evaluates applicants on various factors, such as their secondary school qualifications, language test scores, extracurricular engagements, interpersonal skills, leadership positions, and other calibres.
Private universities: These are run by private bodies and do not receive any funding from the government bodies.
Attending a private university offers advantages such as smaller class sizes, financial incentives, a community of students, and academic excellence.
Singapore provides education right from diplomas to advanced diplomas (for students after 10th standard) and the traditional Bachelor’s as well as Master’s degree programs. The country also has options open for the Mobility Transfer Program. Popular courses are Tourism and Hospitality, Game and design, Banking And Finance and Engineering.
Public funded universities have a very high entry requirement for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. It is a mandate to write the SAT or ACT and the IELTS exams for undergraduate admissions. To enrol in a postgraduate course, students must have completed at least 16 years of education with a 65% or above and have an IELTS score of 7.0 overall.
For Business Schools, a GMAT score is strongly encouraged with 16 years of education and 2-3 years of work experience. However, private universities have no such entry requirements.
The minimum scholarship does not exceed SGD 1,000 per year. Scholarship deadlines are the same as the application deadlines. Only a few schools such as James Cook University, provide specific scholarships based on scholarship test provided by the university.
